About The Invitational

HISTORY

Our tournament has roots dating back over a decade to what was then known as the "Envy Golf Classic", named after a very prominent Aussie-owned Angeles hotel. Sadly, it's no longer around but thanks to some dedicated and passionate golf tragics, we've managed to keep the tournament alive!

These days it's known simply as The Invitational and has grown to be something truly special - to the point where we now offer TWO tournaments per year: one in March and one in September!

LOCATION

We currently run our tournament activities in and around Angeles City, and the Pampanga region. This area has a rich history, having been settled by Spaniards in the late 1700's, urbanised into an official city in 1964, and "westernised" thanks largely to the US Clark Air Base, and nearby Subic Bay Naval Base, present since World War Two.

Following one of the biggest volcanic eruptions in history (Mt Pinatubo, 1991) the region suffered greatly, with widespread devastation and the closure of those US bases, resulting in significant economic decline.

Since then, Angeles has made a remarkable comeback, with the opening of the Clark Freeport Zone, a bunch of casinos, shopping malls, and imminent satellite cities to the North. Then there is the shiny new Clark International Airport, only a few years old but already touted as one of the world's best.

As with many such population centres, a "tourist fun" precinct was established and is now famous among travellers and expats alike: "Walking Street" (recently renamed by the Angeles City Council to "Red Street". It is the go-to place for bars, restaurants and night life in Angeles, and we try to organise our post-golf activities with that in mind.

GOLF COURSE

We are delighted to continue our relationship with Pradera Verde Golf Club. It's a great venue with fantastic amenities, and their recent expansion to two 18-hole courses gives us amazing flexibility and variety.

PARTICIPATION

This event has attracted many celebrities over the years, with none more popular and famous than our current tournament host, AFL legend Gary Buckenara. Such is his "sway", there have bene many others join on tour in previous years:
