A recent addition to our tour is the introduction of our Ambrose Day, preceding the Tournament proper. Based on the well-known "Scramble" format, this aims to provide participants with MORE fun, MORE golf, and a chance to get acquainted with each other, and the course! (Note: there are a lot more people playing in the Ambrose, than will participate in the tournament proper).
We' will also have our LIV-style Party Holes in play on selected par 3's, with Tequila shots, hot dogs, loud music and lots of fun!
The game commences with a SHOTGUN START at 8am. Make sure you allow time to travel to your designated starting tee.
Our Player Registration Desk is open from 7:15am. Please register, pay (for those who haven't) and see the girls for raffle tickets and our specially printed Ambrose score cards.
MULLIGANS may be purchased prior to tee off for PHP500 per player.
The competition shall consist of 3 or 4-man teams, compiled and announced prior to the start of play.
Each team elects a captain (usually the lowest handicapper, or the most experienced player).
The Captain ensures the score card is filled out, with player names and handicaps
Your team playing handicap is determined by adding all individual handicaps and dividing by EIGHT (for 4-man teams) or SIX (for 3-man teams). This handicap must be recorded on your card. Handicap calculation examples are at the bottom of this page
Each team member tees off individually as per normal golf (playing order decided by the captain).
The captain then collaborates and decides which is the "best" ball in play. All players travel to that ball, quickly picking up the other 3 balls along the way.
This "best ball" is marked with a tee and may then be picked up and cleaned if necessary.
All four players then take turns placing their ball within a club length of the marker (no nearer the hole) and hitting their ball. Order of play is completely up to the team / captain.
Play continues in this manner until one or more players are on the green.
Green play proceeds similarly, with the "best ball" chosen and marked. Putts are taken in turn from that point (within 10cm either side of the marker).
At all times, play is subject to the same local and R&A rules when hitting each ball (e.g. hazards, out-of-bounds, penalties etc)
Balls hit out of bounds cannot be selected as best balls.
Balls ending up in hazards (including bunkers) may be selected as best balls. All four players would then be hitting from the hazard, and subject to all the normal hazard rules (and penalties) of regular golf.
Minimum THREE Drives: The captain must ensure that each player uses his TEE shot as the best ball a MINIMUM OF THREE TIMES in the round. Team disqualification applies if this rule is not followed.
IMMEDIATELY at the end of the round, your gross team score is tallied, the team handicap deducted, and a NETT score is thus calculated (to two decimal places). Some examples provided below.
Cards must be double-checked, SIGNED and immediately submitted to the TOC.
Unsigned or incorrectly filled cards risk team disqualification!
Buffet lunch, presentations and raffle draws will commence immediately following play, as directed by the tournament organisers.
Play Ready Golf at all times! If an individual is finished putting, he is encouraged to immediately go tee off on the next hole regardless of who else has yet to putt in your team.
"Early putt-out" rule: If a player misses a putt by 20cm or less, he is permitted to "finish" putting out prior to his teammates putting, in the interests of faster play.
Manage your scoring and card marking on the NEXT TEE, not on the hole you just finished! Ensure your caddies know this as well.
Discuss best ball selection quickly! Where possible, make these decisions BEFORE leaving the tee bed.
